OUR STORIES

Val Joy

Judith Anderson

Judith Anderson

I adopted the Val Joy persona after many years being Val Miserable, walking a narrow path dutiful to convention. Instead of calming me, the blinders I wore kept me in a state of agitation. The comfort zone can become a darn uncomfortable place.

With the blinders off, there is still darkness and night and pain, but I can also see the light and day and possibilities. The resources are all around when I stop and notice. I want to share that knowing with you.

Judith Anderson

Known for a time as Judith Bizar, she has since shed the name but not the attitude, if bizarre in this day and age is direct, authentic and constantly in search of a loving outlet for her passion.

When asked to serve on the Board, her response was, "I've never been on a Board before. How cool is that?! At least it's not the not-interesting Bored."

She professes not to know why people 'follow' her. "I don't know where I'm going," she says. And that is the straight-talking discernment that makes her perfect for the team.

I use to be of the philosophy that toughing things out would make them better, but that kind of power only drowned out the small (& big) things that my body was trying to tell me.

It wasn't until I was desperate to find solutions for my daughter that I realized the core of the self-care journey. Listening to our bodies and emotions early on serves us better in discovering our purpose, living and ageing better, and being happy!

There's a lot of information out there, and as a kind of health diplomat for The Pain To Power Foundation, I'm here to share and continue to learn alongside you what effective preventative self-care looks like for each one of us.
